Meet our caring and compassionate veterinary care team committed to providing exceptional veterinary care for your pets.
Dr. Wes Violet grew up on a farm in northwestern Ohio where he owned horses and raised beef cattle. His veterinary training included an externship in Ocala, Florida, with an emphasis on equine medicine and surgery. The practice served many Thoroughbred and Arabian farms in the area. After receiving a BS in Microbiology, he graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. Dr. Violet's areas of interest are equine reproduction, lameness diagnosis and treatment, and equine medicine and surgery. He has extensive experience in equine pre-purchase evaluation and has received additional training in embryo transfer, acupuncture, and dentistry. He has been a career-long member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and their four horses
Dr. Kris Willaman received her DVM from The Ohio State University in 1983, after obtaining a BS in Biology from the University of Cincinnati. As a student, she was an in-house extern for the veterinary hospital. Dr. Willaman practiced for 10 years in the Cottage Grove area, then took a brief sabbatical to start a family, which includes three children. Dr. Willaman has experience in large animal practice and is a member of the Small Ruminant Practitioners Association. Her interests include orthopedic surgery and small animal medicine. She has completed training in Penn Hip certification.
Dr. Farrahn Olson grew up outside of Spokane, WA. While she always had an interest in animal care and the outdoors, she fell in love with agriculture during her undergraduate degree in Animal Science at Washington State University. After her program at WSU and a summertime career in forestry, she moved abroad to attend vet school in Scotland. Dr. Olson attended the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine, where she thoroughly enjoyed her coursework during lambing season. Having been recently married and graduated, she was excited to move back to the Pacific Northwest to settle down. In her spare time, she enjoys caring for her chickens, and spending time with her Dog, Otis and her cat, Fruit bat. Dr. Olson found South Willamette Veterinary Clinic while looking for a veterinary externship during vet school and, after getting to know the clients and the team, she was very excited to join the practice as an associate veterinarian in 2022! She has already come to appreciate the farm and agricultural community in the Eugene area.
Dr. Kira Blackstad-Pimental grew up on the island of Kauaʻi. Growing up she participated in the local rodeos and was a member of the local 4H club, which is where her interest for animal care started. During her undergraduate degree in Animal Science at University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo she had the opportunity to work as a veterinary assistant at multiple clinics and fell in love with veterinary medicine. After graduating from UHH, she took a short year off before moving to Oregon to attend Oregon State University Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine. During her time at OSU, she enjoyed the large animal courses— especially the ambulatory service. While looking for externships during her final year of school she found us! She spent a week shadowing at South Willamette Veterinary Clinic and quickly noticed how welcoming our team and clients are. Although her main interest is equine medicine, she is also very excited for additional experience in small medicine. We welcomed Dr. Blackstad-Pimental as an associate veterinarian August 1 of 2024 and are very fortunate to have her.
